Background
Hello! I am an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at D'Amore-McKim School of Business with a joint appointment in the Department of Pharmacy and Health System Sciences in Bouvé College of Health Sciences both at Northeastern University. I'm also a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research at Northeastern University.
My research interest lies at the intersection of innovation, strategy and organizational theory and can be viewed in two streams. In one line of work, I examine the role external actors (e.g. financial analysts, regulators, or certifying entities) have in influencing firm adaptation to technology and innovation trajectories. In a second line of work, I investigate how firms manage the pacing of innovations. In particular how firms shift between two innovation modes that must both be pursued for longer term organizational performance. Specifically, when to engage in exploration of a novel domain or when to pursue exploitation in existing ones, with an emphasis on the asymmetric behavior of incumbents and startups.
I earned my Ph.D in Strategic Management from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. I also have a M.S. degree in Management and Applied Economics from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and a M.S. in Strategic Management from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. My B.A. in Economics is from Yale University. Prior to my graduate studies, I worked for Deloitte Consulting in New York City, as well as at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
